Home Museums

Museums.
Do we connect the present to the past, or we just march past wearing uniform T-shirts?

Canadians and Americans with steady jobs take what is known as vacation or holidays. It involves torturous air travel. Don’t forget bored and boisterous kids on the plane. Visiting museums is usually on their to-do-list.

Their cities back home have museums, which they’ve never visited, but most of all, they don’t visit museums they live with. Excuse me? Yes, because a museum is a place where important things are preserved for the next generation, for the next tourist.

We have museums at home. Memories. If only we spoke to each other. Twenty years from now, kids will Google their parents when they see them on television, shocked that ‘mum and dad’ could be on T.V. They never knew that before they were born, mum and dad were arrested several times for painting pedestrian crossings next to kindergarten schools, because City Hall refused to do it. Why? The mayor didn’t like them because they refused to join his political party.

History. Community service that transcends politics. That is why mum and dad are on T.V. Every home is a museum. It can be an old bicycle for two people, or just memories about how we arrived here, from there. Failure to do that, will result in us, hitting Google for information about our parents.
