Voting Matters No Matter What

Donald Trump’s war against America is a reminder of the inevitable. Which is? When political leaders undo the fist, and the thumb decides to hog all the power, because it’s different.

Political parties are the fist. One finger cannot do it alone. We need the power of the fist, to fight the other fist. Remember we have two hands. Please, who doesn’t know that? We don’t, because common sense is on a perpetual vacation. That’s why we drink and drive, text and drive, take selfies and drive. Hollywood and Nigerian movies have long scenes of drivers talking on their phones. Copycats think it’s cool.

What’s your point? We need both hands to drive. I need you, to vote intelligently. You also need me, but we must vote under the auspices of a political party. Voters lose hope in the political system when the individual suppresses the collective. Donald Trump is making negative history with individualism, but Americans must soldier on. They cannot afford to throw out the baby with bath water. The collective must win.

They must take a page from Canada next door.  Prime Minister Justin Trudeau displayed traces of individualism, when he called a snap general election in 2021, when the country was still hurting from the 2020 pandemic. Canadians showed him who’s the boss. Voting counts, no matter what.
