Survival of the fittest, is not only for the jungle. It’s called something else among humans: deceit, betrayal or double crossing. There are legions of stories where a friend stole someone’s lyrics, recorded them under his label and made it a hit song. Self preservation is when Mary employs her friend Mimi in her hair salon, who quickly becomes popular with customers. Mimi steals them and forms her own salon across the road.
Capitalism is about self-preservation called competition. What is called an industry, is activity started by someone who was making a decent living. He was bought out by someone who had a better distribution outlet, let’s say a mall. More feet, more sales. Those feet have moved online, and someone or something will bring down the mighty internet, because every dog has its day.
It’s rather hard to comprehend how something that leads to destruction, destitution and court cases can be called self preservation. It is because the water we pour in a pot is static, just water. Then it prepares to boil. There are million and one particles that will result in the ‘boiling’. Some merged involuntarily to be called boiling water.
A human example of self preservation would be friends that sport guns in their belts, to show the neighborhood that they belong to the ‘cool’ set. They commit a crime. The court gives them the option of being witnesses, a guilty plea deal. The person who decides to save himself is called ‘a snitch.’ It can lead to death in communities where killing each other is regarded as heroism.
Self preservation takes place in high finance, international drug cartels, religious cells and in politics, Trump’s Georgia racketeering case in particular. Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro have opted for self-preservation and took the guilty plea. They decided their self preservation is more important than the man who knows only one preservation: himself.
