Pleasant surprise at the local mall: an arranged Canadian marriage. The Bay created a nice display of sports wear, which seems to be a collaboration between that store and Toronto Raptors, Canada’s only NBA team.

You can’t miss it. It is at the main entrance on the second floor. What attracted me was the Raptors logo on a black jacket. I applied brakes and entered the display. I must admit I was impressed because the logo stands out on black jackets, hoodies, white T-shirts and crew necks.

I’m sure designers had a very difficult brief, blending The Bay colours with red, black and white, Raptors’ dominant colors. The basketball team also has a black and gold jersey, my favourite. You are familiar with The Bay’s colours if you live in Canada. They are mustard, red and green.

They come in bold stripes on blankets, coffee mugs, soap and other store merchandise but designers compressed them into lines that look like barb wire, for the sports wear. For T-shirts, designers made them white, with a black Raptors logo.

The Canadian marriage definitely works and we’ll wear the clothing line at the game, at home while catching the game, on casual Friday at work or long distance driving.

Comfort Food As Regret Food

Chicken curry. Comfort food is good for the soul, which usually bleeds in winter from icy roads, bad drivers that want to annihilate pedestrians, frozen fingers and toes that take a sabbatical.   What happened to my toes?   I thought I was wearing special socks for boots? Einstein Passengers

Being a passenger is very stressful.   You must listen to the owner of the car, nod and grumble yes to everything he says because you don’t want to piss him off. Two things can happen if you disagree with the driver: he can lose concentration and you all end up in a mash-up accident or stop the car and ask you to get out.   That is the driver’s prerogative.   You must listen to me if you are a passenger in my car.   Let’s flip the script for a minute and sympathise with the driver if she has a passenger who is more intelligent than Albert Einstein. He talks non-stop.   It is all about himself, how right he is, how good he is, how stupid his boss is. Einstein is also a driving instructor.   “Careful.   Look at that guy.   Is he crazy or something? ” says Einstein.
