Voting After Parties

Voting after party dress code? Wear your fav NBA, WNBA or college football jersey.

"This calls for celebration.”

If I hear that line from another Nigerian movie, I’ll lose my marbles. Jokes aside though, we celebrate at the drop of a hat. I tend to celebrate being truthful to a 3-day diet, by breezing into the store and buy the forbidden food. Chaaayi!

How about having voting after parties? The act of voting is monumental. No. You can’t ask your boyfriend who he voted for. Has Oprah ever asked Gail who she voted for in 2020? I rest my case. Lucky Americans have a general election 5 November 2024. Lucky because many countries don’t know anything about that animal. Does it have two or four legs? Does it have a horn like a rhino? Does it have 9 lives like a cat?

Since Americans can vote, they ought to have voting after parties with friends and families. Logistics would be the problem though. How do you plan an after party when people vote at different times at different voting stations? Some voted early, others mail-in or absentee voting.

True. True dat. Ideally, the date should be 5 November. Where? At home, school gym, in the park or buy the whole restaurant for the night.

CONDITIONS

1. Voting proof. That will be hard to prove, but it must be proved, somehow.

2. Can I bring a guest?  Sure, but we still need voting proof. But she’s from Canada. Right, and my name is Ivanka Trump.

3. Dress code. No white clothes please. It’s enough and wasteful. Wear something you can wear more often, like your fav NBA, WNBA, NFL or college football jersey. Shilo Sanders and your brother Shedeur, listen up. Sorry. You cannot come wearing Colorado Buffs merch. Your old man works there, so it will be ‘nepotism.’ LOL.

4. Parents. Kids must get such merchandise for grandpa and grandma, aunties, uncles and other relatives who are not into sports.

You voted. Clap for yourselves. Americans are damn lucky.
