Throw Back. Origin of Trump's 34 Felony Counts
Below is an old blog about New York State suing Donald Trump for civil fraud.
“For too long, powerful, wealthy people in this country have operated as if the rules do not apply to them. Donald Trump stands out as among the most egregious example for this misconduct.” Letitia James, New York Attorney General, September 21, 2022.
Trump’s supporters have heard the lie about Democrats’ conspiracy to derail his second coming as U.S. President so often, they think it’s the truth. This metamorphosis is so potent, it has the Republican Party by the ‘bbs.’ It has also clouded the reason why the Attorney General decided to sue Donald Trump for years of financial fraud. That reason is in-house, Michael Cohen in particular.
A CNN piece yesterday about Trump dropping his lawsuit against Michael Cohen just jogged my memory about how and why Letitia James is suing Trump and his sons. Cohen, Trump’s ex-attorney and friend testified before Congress about happened inside the gilded Trump Tower. When New York went into action with its long investigation of what Cohen said, Trump did his second best thing. Which is? Lawsuit against Cohen for ‘spreading falsehoods.’ What is his first best thing? Lying (falsehoods).
Trump’s inner circle in the Republican Party knows that it’s not about Letitia James and the Democratic Party. It’s about business. Trump broke business rules which he didn’t have to, because religion and business protect themselves like coconuts and pineapples. You need a knife to crack them open. The April indictment was the knife.
“Manhattan is the home to the country’s most significant business market,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement. “We cannot allow New York businesses to manipulate their records to cover up criminal conduct.”
