Gus Walz "That's My Dad"
Gus Walz shared a family secret about his father Tim Walz. Which is? Love. If the love gauge in your family reads EMPTY, keep it to yourself. We are in a swamp of obnoxious people, already.
Below is an old blog 26 June 2024, about how kids love sitting on daddy's shoulders.
-----------
Human contact. Kids love it. Summer is here and we’ll see them all over the place, perched on fathers,’ brothers’ or uncles’ shoulders.
Gqogqosha = is a Zulu word that means having a child on someone’s shoulders.
For a long time, I thought piggy back was the correct word for it. Apparently it’s not. Piggy back means carrying kids on the back. It is also one of the games lovers play as a sign of affection. I wonder where piggy back came from. Was there a pig in ancient England that carried its kids on the back? That’s highly unlikely though, because its skin is slippery. Animals like the koala in Australia, carry their kids in a pouch.
During the summer, kids cry when it’s time to go back to the car or the train, but they don’t cry when they are on top of the mountain, on dad’s shoulders. They hold on tight on his head and he holds the little legs around his neck. I wonder what kids see up there. I hope they see that the earth is round, they see that the sun is tired and is just about to bow down and sleep, they see that the top branch of a tree in the park has a nest and that the river is static, not moving because of the heat.
I hope they don’t see factories belching out smoke. They don’t see abandoned apartment buildings. They don’t see buildings bombed by enemy planes because of ideology: communism or capitalism. Lucky kids. They have a shoulder to ride on, and mom has a shoulder to lean on at night, and life in general.
