Kids Love A Mess In Kitchen
Kids love a mess. It’s their way of exploring the world. That is why they love the mess in the kitchen created by cutting oranges, feeding them into the electric juicer and seeing juice come out. Baking is also fun because of the flour and all the mess that produces cookies, tea biscuits or corn bread. Do people still bake?
Papaya is a mess but the end-result is worth it. Depending of their age, give two kids two halves of a medium size papaya. They should be old enough to handle knives safely. Tell each kid to slice their half. They will slice different sizes. Ask them about what they see inside. They’ll say seeds obviously, but the slices represent something. They might see a star, a pumpkin etc. Which countries produce papaya and why is it called tropical fruit?
Ask them to peel the slices, chop the papaya and eat with their hands. They will love licking the juice.
