Salmon Over Cooked

Image
Salmon really doesn’t like heat. If I wasn’t scared of long lines at the airport check-in, passengers from hell and waiting for the plane bathroom, I’ll fly to Kyoto Japan pronto , to learn the art of making sushi. I made a mistake a few days ago. I forgot that salmon is anti-heat. I found my favourite pasta at a drugstore last week. Drugstores sell everything nowadays, don’t they? I cooked onion and tomatoes in canola oil for 6minutes. I placed salmon on top and switched off the heat, but left the pot on the stove. I added the boiled pasta, tiny tiny chilies and some cheddar cheese. I turned the heat to low, so that everybody could get acquainted. I completely forgot that it was too much heat for the fish. I didn’t enjoy the meal. The salmon was dry and tossed and turned in my mouth. Never again. I will remove it from the onion and tomato mix before I add the pasta. Trump Lawyers Not Paid Immunity Reason

Image
Joe Tacopina, a former lawyer of Donald Trump . Are Donald Trump's lawyers paid by the hour, or at the guilty or not guilty stage? I’m just asking because it is important to pre-empt him. It is possible that he could refuse to settle his legal bills, by reason of immunity. Immunity is his bullet proof vest and he might use it and tell his lawyers that immunity covers legal expenses incurred while fighting ‘false claims’ that he is a threat to democracy. Example? His 6 January 2021 criminal and treasonous act, on the home of estimated 345 million Americans. That is preposterous. Is it? Donald Trump calls criminals that executed that act on the Capitol great patriots. He has this ability to turn common sense into nonsense. That is why he can flip the script on his lawyers and tell them there are no legal fees for them, because they are doing their patriotic duty. Which is? Help him fight communists, fascists, leftists etc. that do not want to admit that what he did between 2016-2021,

Trump Mocks Hurricane Helene Georgia Victims

Image
Photo: online pic. 1.  America is a real country, not reality T.V. 2.  America’s upcoming presidential election, is a human exercise, that will determine the future of real human beings. It’s not reality T.V. 3.  America is trying to salvage what can be salvaged in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee after the devastation brought by the wrath of Hurricane Helene. The hurricane is not reality TV. Trump Erects A Stage From The Debris People died this past week, and more are missing. What does Donald Trump do? He goes to Valdosta Georgia, and sets up a temporary stage from bricks. I don’t know where they got the lectern from, but it was there, then he spoke. Those are tools of the trade he lives for. Everything in America is reality TV for Donald Trump. Valdosta Georgia is a natural disaster area. Who thinks about trappings of a Mar-a-lago press conference amid such devastation and destitution? Donald Trump does. What we see all the time, are politic

Canada National Day Truth and Reconciliation

Image
NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION There are rallies across the land to foster reconciliation about Canada's colonialist past, which sent kids to Roman Catholic Church residential schools, to be 'cleansed' of their 'Indianess.' Marching every year on 30 September is useless, if we do not live it. Live the reconciliation Canada. Nonqaba waka Msimang Blogger Without Borders

Indigenous People Had Physics

Image
One genius + one genius = generational wealth. Neil deGrasse Tyson, physics falcon and @mkbhd, the tech falcon that lives on all social media platforms.  Education in the British Empire was cancel culture. Language was top of the list because it’s like a tree. Cut down a tree and you leave birds and other tenants homeless. You also create a recipe for fire, that blankets provinces like British Columbia and Alberta during the hot season. I didn’t understand Physics in school because it is taught in English, a foreign language. Education is online now. That’s how I came across Neil deGrasse Tyson. He was interviewed by @mkbhd, the YouTuber who laid most of the tracks used to review phones, computers, cameras, watches and anything with a T : technology. Since then, I’ve been watching other Neil’s interviews. I don’t understand a thing, but what he says reminds of African proverbs, Zulu in particular. ZULU PROVERB MEANING The sun will fall down and be picked up by chickens. Can Neil deGras

Canada Reconciliation Day

Image
The orange T-shirt symbolizes how indigenous kids were removed from their parents and sent to residential schools to be 'civilized.' There will be a sea of orange shirts on Canadian streets today. The country is observing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation . It is about indigenous people. The Roman Catholic Church and the colonial government removed children from their parents, cut their hair, put them in dormitories and gave them the bible.  Hidden graves of 215 ‘Indian’ children from the  old  Kamloops Catholic Residential School in British Columbia in May  2021 ,  led to the creation of this day, the  National Day for Truth and Reconciliation . Memories of residential schools are something indigenous people live with everyday, not just one day. Today, 30 September, Canada remembers horrors of residential schools. Survivors will speak about them in varies events across the nation. Nonqaba Msimang Blogger Without Borders

U.S Supreme Court Tile Grout

Image
Photo: stock pic from internet. The U.S. Supreme Court was never meant to be the pick axe of one man determined  the break democracy floor tiles.  Construction has various levels after workers have poured concrete and the foundation is set. Other important levels include progress on the walls. They go up to window level. Next, is progress up to roof level, then the roof itself. When the house is complete, sub-contractors that lay down floor tiles move in and do their thing. The beautiful floors you admire in some houses when you go house-hunting, is the work of tile mortar and grout. Most tiles are packaged individually but are shipped in boxes. Tilers lay them on the floor, cut them accordingly and join them with mortar, then beautify them with grout. The floor looks beautiful and stays like that for generations. The U.S. Constitution is the tile mortar that joins all races and the 50 states. The Supreme Court is the grout that beautifies the different colours and shapes. It protects

Savings Account? Not Possible

Image
It’s impossible to have a savings account abroad. Recent immigrants from Africa, Asia, Caribbean and Europe find life difficult in Canada and the U.S. because everything costs money, even washing your clothes. There is also pressure from countries of origin, to help those left behind financially. The expectation is that they are rich because they live abroad.    I know, rich is relative, but parents and grandparents ‘ back hom e’   do  not understand that sons and daughters don’t have any cash money, to quote a blues singer, somewhere in Mississippi. Recent immigrants find it difficult to save because wages from one or two jobs disappear as soon as they land in the bank account. They are also not enough. That’s why credit cards are back-up. Some immigrants come from continents where a savings account is  a source of pride. Those savings also made it possible to process visas and buy plane tickets to start a new life in Canada, U.S. or Sweden. Family members left behind do not understan

America Is An Immigrant

Image
Garcelle Beauvais, famous American actress and TV personality born in Haiti. They speak French. What is an immigrant? Donald Trump’s father, who was born in Germany was. Immigrants are ancestors of former president JFK, that fled to Boston, running away from the potato famine in Ireland. For Donald Trump, immigrants he lives with at home are not immigrants, but Haitians born and raised in America or have legitimate immigration papers are, and a danger to pet owners. Book : Beyond The Messy Truth Author : Van Jones “Immigrants who come to this country to seek a better life believe more strongly in the American dream - in the promise of economic enterprise and hard work - than any group of citizens I know. Here are communities of people who, without complaint, do some of the hardest jobs in America. They serve with distinction in our military, putting their lives on the line to protect us. They pick fruit and vegetables for more than twelve hours per day in the hot sun and cold rain. The

Trump's Catalog of Vanity Merch

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York. “We know, Donald Trump will sell this country for a dollar, if it meant lining his pockets ……..” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (Democratic Party) representative for New York’s 14 th  Congressional District. The Congresswoman was speaking at the party’s convention held August 19-22 in Chicago. Her remarks are based on common knowledge, that Donald Trump’s main hustle is getting back to the White House, to avoid going to jail for 6 January 2021 and other crimes on his ‘rap sheet’ to quote Jasmine Crockett, Texas Congresswoman. Selling merchandise about himself is his side hustle and it points in one direction: he thinks he is America, unilaterally. What does the song say? You’re so vain. You probably think the song is about you?  Here are a few examples of his merchandise catalog. 1.  Gold sneakers 2.  Coins of himself 3.  NFT trading cards 4.  Watches 5.  Assassination sneakers (he is planning a third self assassination, so the next pair of sneakers w

Songs About America

Image
What is your favourite song about your country America? It’s an appropriate question because of November 5. All eyes are on America because the world regards this particular presidential election as bizarre. Bizarre and dangerous because the bizarre nominee, Donald Trump, a former president who attempted a coup d’etat on 6 January 2021, is running for president, again. Dangerous because he is dismantling the right to vote in former slave states like Georgia and Texas. Georgia wants to count votes by hand, an antiquated process which will enable Donald Trump to rig the 2024 election, as he tried to rig the 2020 one. Why? Because he says he wants to make America great again. America. What is and who is America? The outside world is watching this election because the country is good at advertising itself through things like films and music. Can Americans name ten songs about their country? 1.  Born in the U.S.A. 2.  ….…………….. 3.  ….…………… 4.  ….…………….. 5.  ….…………….. 6.  ….……………. 7.  ….…………

Young People Do Not Read

Image
It is wrong to generalize. For example, we tend to use a blanket statement that young people don’t read. It’s because of their phones. They are forever scrolling away or are incognito because their headphones shut out the world. But they do read, not Shakespeare like grandma or Alex Haley’s Roots, like grandpa, but they do. I saw them at the book market to raise money for the local Children’s Hospital, yesterday. It was held at a big shopping mall around here. Every store front had long tables filled with books, even religion. I stood there for a while, fascinated by a young girl who was engrossed in a religious book. See? Another stereotype that young don’t have time for church or any religion for that matter. Young people read because they have interests, and most of them are online, but Google is not everything. It has second hand smoke. Meaning? Somebody sent the movie, blog, music video or book to the internet.  It cannot be Googled if it is not out there online. Some knowledge ex

Stores Shop Assistants Reduced

Image
Most malls have something called the anchor store. It could be  a department store like Sears, which went out of business in our city before COVID-19, if I'm not mistaken. It could be a mega grocery store. What I’ve noticed is that there are fewer sales assistants on the floor, than before. Sections that used to have dedicated staff don’t have them anymore. Example. In the local uptown department store, the furniture guy is gone, not on vacation but has been missing for about six months. Formal wear like evening dresses is still there but no dedicated staff person. Is the internet responsible? Are more people shopping online? “I buy everything online.” One woman said that in an interview. She didn’t elaborate and I wish the interview had been longer because what is everything? Probably clothes for the family, kitchen stuff, sheets and duvets, DIY tools and even food. Grocery stores deliver fruit and vegetables, seafood, rotisserie chicken, maple syrup, detergent, everything on your

Kids Love A Mess In Kitchen

Image
Eat with yoghurt for breakfast or lunch. Kids love a mess. It’s their way of exploring the world. That is why they love the mess in the kitchen created by cutting oranges, feeding them into the electric juicer and seeing juice come out. Baking is also fun because of the flour and all the mess that produces cookies, tea biscuits or corn bread. Do people still bake? Papaya is a mess but the end-result is worth it. Depending of their age, give two kids two halves of a medium size papaya. They should be old enough to handle knives safely. Tell each kid to slice their half. They will slice different sizes. Ask them about what they see inside. They’ll say seeds obviously, but the slices represent something. They might see a star, a pumpkin etc. Which countries produce papaya and why is it called tropical fruit? Ask them to peel the slices, chop the papaya and eat with their hands. They will love licking the juice. Nonqaba waka Msimang Blogger Without Borders

Protect Shedeur In Florida? Locked In.

Image
Sanders. Shedeur Sanders. That's my name. Pleased to make your acquaintance. Protect Shedeur? You bet. We will. We shall protect Shedeur Sanders in Florida, Boulder and any jurisdiction where he throws the ball. At least, I know that he's called a quarterback, but nobody has ever explained why the guy who throws the ball is not called a half-back. Chaaayi ! I have so much to learn. But protecting Shedeur, I know that part very well. There's no two ways about it. Nonqaba waka Msimang Blogger Without Borders

Book Market for Children's Hospital

Image
PHOTO ESSAY : By Nonqaba waka Msimang. How big is your local mall? Imagine it being full of books, east, west, north, south. The St. Vital Mall held its annual book market to raise money for the Children's Hospital.  There were long lines for cashiers, but folks were patient and courteous. Some folks came prepared with shopping carts and wagons. Shout-out to volunteers who do it every year.

Doug Emhoff Campaigns For Breakfast Partner

Image
Vice President Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff, her breakfast partner. I think they are sweet on each other. Policy matters to voters, but such photos are the deciding factor, for some.   Scenario : Kamala Harris and husband Doug Emhoff are at the breakfast table, the sun eavesdropping through the shutters. VP Kamala Harris : A penny for your thoughts darling. Doug Emhoff:  I’ll miss this, our breakfast nook, when we move to the White House. VP Kamala Harris : Wow! Slow down. We’re not there yet. Remember we are the underdog in this election. Doug Emhoff:  I know darling so, back to work. You go to your next campaign stop. I’ll go to mine. Let’s do this. VP Kamala Harris : That’s right, my breakfast partner for life. First gentleman? That is what Doug Emhoff will be called, if his wife Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party presidential nominee wins the November 5 election. Emhoff is not folding his hands though, keeping his fingers crossed that his breakfast partner becomes the first woman

Gwen Walz Campaigns For Breakfast Partner

Image
Gwen Walz, wife of Tim Walz, Democratic Party nominee for vice president is also on the road, spreading the word that America will not go back. Scenario : Tim Walz, the Minnesota Governor, his wife Gwen, and son Gus are having breakfast. Tim Walz : Who will you vote for in the November election, honey? Gwen Walz : The vote is secret, but I think Kamala Harris has a cute running mate. Tim Walz : You don’t say? Gwen Walz : Yes. That’s why I’m campaigning for him. Gwen Walz is Governor Tim Walz’ breakfast partner. That is why she is on the road drumming up support for Vice President Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, the man she has breakfast with. You must give it to Americans though. Wives are visible in presidential campaigns. Just think of former presidents. Whether you vote Democrat or Republican, you had your favourite nominee’s wife. Was it Nancy Reagan, Rosalyn Carter, Laura Bush, Hilary Clinton, Michelle Obama or Jill Biden? The buck stops here. Nonqaba waka Msimang Blogger Without Bor

Trump and Wife Coin Sellers

Image
Donald Trump selling his coins, Melania Trump her book. Street hawkers, are we? There’s an English proverb about suicide: digging your own grave. It is 6 feet down in most countries, but religion also plays a part in how people are laid to rest e.g. cremation. My apologies for mentioning death, but it’s the circle. We are born to die.  Politicians have handlers, advisers, personal attorneys and other people that save them from themselves. Yes, because politicians can be suicidal, literally dig their own graves by what they tweet, say on the campaign trail, in Congress, in court, concoct rally stats, regular garnishing of history and their intentions for the future. Political handlers are there to protect the collective, because ideally, candidates represent the whole pizza, not a slice. What happens if a slice decides it is the pizza? The pizza dries up and it ends up in the thrash can under the sink. Digging your own grave is incremental. Donald Trump, former U.S. president is a case

North Carolina Lt. Governor Worms of Hate

Image
Mark Robinson, North Carolina Lt. Governor, and Donald Trump, the racist twins. ZULU LESSON Fall is here, but there’s still fresh corn in farmers’ markets and your supermarket. It is quite messy because we peel leaves at the top looking for worms. I once had a photo of a sign: DON’T SHUCK CORN, but I can’t find it. That is nature. Worms in the corn. What is unforgivable is a grown man who used to be a U.S. president inserting worms of hate into the 2024 presidential election. Worms are called  izi-mpethu  in Zulu. It’s very easy to pronounce. Think of the word impetus. Izi-mpethu . You say the first part like ‘easy’ and the last part like impetus. Worms hide in ripe fruit like peaches, as we discovered climbing peach trees in our youth. It is their nature. Men like Donald Trump and Mark Robinson the Lt. Governor of North Carolina do not hide their worms of hate. They spread it freely like a farmer spreading chicken feed on the ground, for her brood. One worm is called impethu . A virus

Donald Trump's Stocks and Bondage

Image
I don't know much about stocks and bonds, but I was surprised that Donald Trump could have a public company based on what he says online. Below is an old blog 15 February 2024. ----------------- Breaking news this evening will be welcomed by former President Donald Trump. His company, Trump Media and Technology Group, which produces  Truth Social ,   his online drumbeat has been cleared by a Securities and Exchange Commission ruling, to merge with a company called Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC). Apparently, DWAC shares jumped 15% after the announcement, but shareholders will vote on the merger first. What does this mean for Donald Trump’s bank account? If more people regard it as just a business opportunity and don’t care about the ‘truth’, does this mean he has deep pockets to fight the U.S. justice system in perpetuity? I don’t know much about companies going ‘public.’ I’ll wait until some Wall Street experts explain how it works, and implications for the 2024 presidentia

Donald Trump Define Dual Citizenship

Image
Donald Trump's father was born in Germany, but hid it because he didn't want to antagonize his Jewish friends and customers. Haitians are not the first immigrants. America is an immigrant. The U.S.A. is an immigrant country, that is why most Americans have dual citizenship. There’s a good reason for that. Original settlers from Europe did not want to go back to grinding poverty that brought them to America, but they still identified with ‘the ole country.’ Netherlands Scandinavia Spain France Portugal Ireland Scotland England Italy Poland Germany British settlers were even worse, because they thought the British monarchy made them better than everybody else. Therefore, Donald Trump should remember that the word ‘immigrant’ also applies to himself, through his father and grandparents. Nonqaba waka Msimang Blogger Without Borders

Identity Inferiority Who Am I?

Image
Hollywood cowboy films called them 'red Indians.' They are not. This book Firekeeper's Daughter is about identity. It must be traumatic not knowing who you are and it happens to some kids born in Canada and the U.S. but parents came from other continents, culture and religion. It also happens to adopted kids, inter-racial kids and kids that did not grow up with Indian parents and grandparents. They are not 'Indian.' They are Anishinaabe. The girl in this book has a white mother and an Anishinaabe father, who was a hockey player. Here are a few paragraphs from the book,  Fire Keeper's Daughter. “APPLICATION FOR TRIBAL ENROLMENT - SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES. Auntie nods, urging me to look at the papers. A notarized letter from my mother explains that she was a minor when she gave birth and her parents refused to include my father’s name on the birth certificate. Stolen Identity But Bank Account Zero

Image
Internet thieves only hack accounts with money so, some of us are safe. Theft can only occur if there is something to steal. There were news reports from one country a few years ago, about thieves that only broke into homes to wine and dine. Well! Not wine. But they ransacked refrigerators, sat down and ate everything that could be eaten without cooking. They left a mess. That’s how owners knew about the uninvited guests. As for my identity, it cannot be stolen because it is empty. It is also protected by my name. There is no thief dead or alive that can pronounce my name and I understand names are the bone structure of identity theft. Bank Manager:  What’s your name sir? Identity Thief:  My name is qo-ngqa ……. (thief twists his tongue. It chokes him to death right there, on the bank’s marble floor). Now, let’s surmise thieves can miraculously pronounce my name correctly, what will they find in my accounts? Nada . I don’t have a kobo to my name   (Nigerian for penny/cent). I don’t even

Reparations Might Divide A People

Image
Kamala Harris knows who she is. That is why she doesn't waste time explaining it to you and I. You should be worried about yourself. Do you know who you are? Background . Who is black? That comes before reparations. If there were reparations, who will qualify? Who will decide? It will divide a people.  Below is an old blog 23 December 2023 about reparations. ---------------------------------- What do we discuss at home during the holidays, besides avoiding parents with their blackmail? Talk to your brother. I’m going to die tomorrow before he does the right thing. Usual tactics to force us to do things that will be detrimental to our mental and financial well-being. I suppose we’ll run away from mum and dad, sit in the garage or backyard and talk about reparations. Correction. I’ll pretend to be room noise and eavesdrop on African Americans talking about the pro’s and con’s. I’m an outsider, so I’m sorry if I offend you. Some people prefer to be called black Americans. I never kne
