Corn Good For You
I hope they still like grits.
It’s Thanksgiving in the U.S. and mothers are keeping their fingers crossed that kids’ favorite food, is still their favorite. It hurts them when sons and daughters give a State of the Union address about calories, before eating. Sometimes, they reject food because they associate it with old times when the going was tough and rough.
Grits for example. It is from corn. Therefore, it is good for YouTube tenants, the same way it was good for their great grandparents. That’s why Deion Sanders ‘Coach Prime’ asked for grits, when he arrived at that fancy college with a lot of snow, where he heads the football program.
Food should not be judged by who eats it, ate it, and where it was eaten. It should be judged on what it does for the body, be kind to the heart and provide energy so that we can make it another day. It should not be a status thing. I was born in a British colony, so us Africans despised almost everything about ourselves, including our food. I was therefore surprised when I saw grits in an Italian cook book. Theirs is porridge-like and it is served with fish, meat or vegetables. There you go. It’s good news for black people who think value, only comes with doing things like white people.
You need white or yellow corn meal to make grits. There’s morning grits , which is cooked like oatmeal and hard grits, usually eaten for dinner. Please note that hard grits needs one cup or two cups of corn meal into the boiling water, unlike morning grits where you put a few spoons.
