Tonic Dinner for Coach Prime
Deion Sanders ‘Coach Prime’ needs some tonic food this Sunday, after the Oregon ‘butt-kicking.’ His ride or die doesn’t cook. Nothing personal, she just doesn’t do pots and pans and we heard it from the horse’s mouth, not the grapevine. Is that a song? I just forgot the singer.
She will probably make an exception today and cook for her man. All she needs is:
- White cornmeal for hard grits
- frozen peas (defrost first)
- I envy you if you have peas in the backyard
- Red apples
- Red bell peppers
- Onions
- Tomatoes
- Olive oil
HARD GRITS
1. Mama taught us how to cook morning and hard grits.
2. As you know, morning grits is essentially porridge, served with milk.
3. Hard grits is more solid therefore, boil two cups of water.
4. Add little salt, pour 2 cups of cornmeal.
5. Let it boil for two minutes then stir with your wooden spoon.
6. Reduce heat to low, cook for 5m and stir.
7. Repeat three times and taste.
8. If you can still feel the cornmeal, it’s not ready.
9. Should be ready after 15m.
APPLE CURRY
- Cook onion, tomatoes in olive oil for 6m
- Add half teaspoon of Jamaican jerk sauce, or you fav dangerous sauce
- Add peas and cook for 5m
- Add red peppers and apples
- Cook for 5m (I like veggies crunchy, cook longer if you prefer them soft)
SERVING
Darling the tonic dinner is ready. My bad. I don’t think Coach Prime’s ride or die calls him darling. It’s none of my business as long she doesn’t call them ‘boo.’ It is scary like Halloween. Why not give the man a bonus, lamb chops grilled in low fat margarine for 6m max or grilled chicken?
