Restaurants Forbid Laptops

Work at home. Turning restaurants into your home office is bad for business. 
Fix whatever problems make you run away, from home.

Restaurants sell food. They are licensed to offer us table and chairs while we eat their food decorated with green leaves. They need the money to buy fruit and vegetables, pay the bakery, waiters, rent, bank loan and the taxman. What will happen if all of us brought laptops to restaurants? They will go out of business.

The table for two is the smallest. What I’ve noticed is that laptop diners sit in tables for four, which means that the restaurant has lost an order for four grilled fish dishes or lasagna.  I also get the impression that laptop diners know that what they are doing is bad for restaurants, because they look very serious and stare at the screen, giving the impression that they are doing something important. 


What I do admire though is that laptop diners have the latest computers that I normally see in big-budget, but no-story movies. Their mobile phones have features that are also in their computers. Laptop diners are rich, uber rich. They have beautiful homes with amazing home offices that are very lonely, because owners have relocated to Starbucks.


Restaurants are hurting

Laptop diners don’t have an appetite. They are big on glasses and glasses of water with lemon or cups of cappuccino. A fruit salad is a big meal. The restaurant is lucky if they order the day’s special.  Laptop diners don’t make eye contact since they are so busy, so I’ve never asked them why they want to destroy the restaurant business. 


Laptop diners should put themselves in the coffee shop’s shoes.  How would they feel if telephones in their Wall Street offices were used for betting horses?  How will Apple feel if their stores started selling Samsung or HP computers? Apple is about the individual,  the "i" or "me" so, it should start me-Cafes where customers would drink as much water and coffee as they want, and show off their latest me-Hardware.  

 

Restaurants and coffee shops will make so much profit, the second cup of coffee or vino will be free. People who go to restaurants to meet friends and enemies and to get a break from that computer screen will have a table again.

Comfort Food As Regret Food

Chicken curry. Comfort food is good for the soul, which usually bleeds in winter from icy roads, bad drivers that want to annihilate pedestrians, frozen fingers and toes that take a sabbatical.   What happened to my toes?   I thought I was wearing special socks for boots? We therefore have a right to comfort food which throws doctors’ orders out of the window and has no loyalty to calories.   No calculator on the table, thanks very much.   Piece of bread 5 calories, half a banana 10 calories, sugar-free cheesecake 2,000 calories.   Ah! Ah!  We only live once. No Air Miles

I don’t have Air Miles.   I’m considering putting that on a T-Shirt because I cannot go to the drugstore (chemist) or coffee shop without the cashier asking me if I have air miles. We waited for about two minutes the other day, while this guy looked for his Air Miles card in his overweight wallet.   For what?   For a few points. I don’t have air miles because Mathematics is a foreign language.   I was never good in numbers. That is why I squashed the idea of being an investment banker very early in life.   I understand you can invest in cornfields before the soil is turned up or pork bellies even before a baby pig is born. That is how I view air miles, investing in tomorrow or the unknown.   I’m the dumb one.   Some people understand this air miles’ thing so well, I overheard one customer saying: I can even convert my points into cash. Points and air miles are the same thing in Canada and the U.S.   Drugstores or clothing stores even give you a card to collect point
