Dessert Strawberries and Cream
I can say my ‘official’ summer is here because I visited the local farmers’ market for the first time, today. There will be more visits, to buy these sweet strawberries. No. It’s not guaranteed. Some strawberries can be quite bitter, forcing me to add some sugar.
You can serve strawberries for dessert or with plain yogurt or full cream, if you can find it. We are so health conscious, some grocery stores no longer carry full cream. Fat. The world is scared of the letter ‘F’. Strawberries come in two sizes: small and large. There is no medium because it’s hard to define. What is medium to you is small to me and large to the next person. Therefore, serve small strawberries as they are. Slice the large ones (see photo).
You love a smoothie with strawberries as the main fruit, but you can also enjoy them in good old fruit salad with oranges and other fruit you have at home, or picked up from farmers markets, as I did today. However, strawberries will spoil your fruit salad because they don’t like sleep-overs. They become soggy, so finish it the day you made it.
Strawberries, one of the joys of summer, found in farmers’ markets.
