Jonathan Majors It's His Phone

A man's life ruined because of his phone. Your phone is private property, so does his.

In March 2023, Jonathan Majors, the Lovecraft Country and Creed 111 star was arrested for alleged domestic assault. Initially, his girlfriend said it was not her intention to have him arrested. They had a scuffle when she tried to see what was happening in his cellphone.

PHONE PRIVACY

Jonathan Majors is the unfortunate one. His reputation has been tainted with something no bleach can remove: violence against women. That blemish will be on every blog, Twitter feed, podcast, academic newsletter, everywhere, just because of a cellphone.

The cellphone is a private possession. Despite all the movies made about women checking men’s phones, looking for infidelity or what is called ‘cheating on me.’ Women looking for men who love just one woman have a lot of time in their hands. It’s like an attempt to count sun rays. It’s impossible, and only exists in a Hollywood romance bubble of,  I love you and only you.

Women invade men’s privacy when they break into their phones. Till death do us part has nothing to do with cellphones. There are two people involved. They profess to love each other, but that does not mean bondage, ownership or possession. Despite what romance movies say, you don’t own a husband or a boyfriend to the point of doing burglary on his property, his phone.

BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP

The notion that women think they have a right to a man’s phone presupposes a contract of some kind, like a business partnership. We own the company 50/50. That is in writing, in black and white. It’s about transparency about how we conduct business, share expenses and profits.

CELLPHONES NOT PART OF I LOVE YOU

Hollywood abandoned the whole I love industry years ago, but it’s alive and well in Life Time and Nigerian movies where there are rose petals on the floor leading to the I love you shrine.

It’s misleading because the whole world is involved in some bigamy. You love the person you live with, and the online one. That’s why the cellphone is not joint property. Don’t read your boyfriend’s messages. No. He’s not cheating on you. He’s a bee, and loves other flowers in the garden.
