Online Romance Setback For Women
Online romance is a setback for women’s health and dignity. What teen boys used to see in Playboy is now in their phones, sent by girls who believe in the magic phrase ‘I love you’ coming from a total stranger who might be 72 and not 20 years old as he claimed. The internet has horror stories.
The reluctant respect women get in the workplace did not come easily like spring rain. Trail blazers fought for it. Some women even lost their jobs in the process. Online romance is frustrating for women who stand in front of men and do business presentations. What’s so funny in the back row? Male colleagues are sharing videos sent by women who believe they are ‘in love.’ We are all familiar with the movie line, ‘if you love me you will do it.’
Women’s dignity is also compromised in the classroom where female teachers encounter disrespect, but cannot pinpoint its origin. It’s videos in boys’ phones, sent voluntarily by girlfriends. There will always be friction in school hallways and online videos disarm girls. Boys do not take them seriously because they know them in a biblical and digital way. Sometimes it leads to suicide and irreparable mental health.
Online romance is a setback for women’s dignity because it is self-induced, unlike historical disrespect justified by culture and religion. Women and girls must take ownership of their voluntary actions. They know what they’re are doing and want to do it. It comes with a price though. No respect for women.
