Canada #51 U.S. State

Youth matters right? Former buddies, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
and Barack Obama 44th U.S. President.

Canada will host an august visitor on 23 and 24 March. August because it’s U.S. President Joe Biden. August because the two countries are neighbors. They have many things in common, such as Labour Day in September.

Canada Day, a national holiday is 1 July. The U.S. has Fourth of July. Both have Thanksgiving although on different dates. Both love baseball and basketball. Toronto Raptors, Canada’s only NBA team is manned by American players, around 90%. We don’t mind. They are contract Canadians but their kids are 100% Canadian because most of them were born in Toronto.

That is where the camaraderie ends. Canadians know the country is, for all practical purposes, the 51st U.S. state. They fight in America’s wars because of NATO and G7 membership. Canadian troops returned from Afghanistan in 2021 after playing back up to American troops. Biden felt inadequate. He had no war with his name so he embarked on Russia, with Ukraine as proxy. That is where Canadian troops are right now. Ukraine.

When America says jump! Trudeau and all prime ministers before him respond: How high? That is cast in stone. What is infuriating is being reminded that Canada’s To-Do list is identical to America’s. Examples.

1. The U.S. sees a suspicious balloon hovering above its territory. They identify it as a Chinese balloon spy. They shot it down. They also shot other spy balloons in Canadian air space. It cannot happen in other parts of the world. My airspace is my airspace and I have the right to shoot first and questions later. Not in Canada. It belongs to the U.S.

2. The U.S. complains about foreign interference in federal elections. Canada inherits the complaint. Apparently, it might be from China. During Trump’s time, foreign interference was allegedly from Russia.

3. The U.S. bans Tik Tok because China might use it for espionage. Canada bans it too.

There are more secret examples that demonstrate Canada is the 51st U.S. state. Biden prepares the To-Do list, Canada follows suit. What Canadian issue became an American issue in recorded history?
