Meghan Markle Will Be Blamed
Meghan Markle cannot win. She will have thorns in both feet after King Charles’ Coronation. If you grew up in a rural area, you know the joy of playing outside bare foot, until you step on a thorn and you scream Maaa! On a bad day, you step on another one as you limp home.
Either way, she will be blamed should anything go wrong at the Coronation on 6 May.
1. But she didn’t attend. She’s not safe in England, after Jeremy Clarkson, who has a show on Amazon Prime called for her public humiliation. It doesn’t matter. She’s to blame for whatever went wrong. She should have attended.
2. She attended. Why did she go there, after saying bad things about the royal family? She went there to steal Kate’s shine.
Some thorns will never leave Meghan’s feet. Certain members of the royal court did not want her from day one, before Oprah’s interview and Spare, Prince Harry’s book. After the marriage, royal servants allegedly complained that she was difficult.
British television fossils expected her to be at their beck and call, something that was not done to Kate Middleton. Other media calculated how much her clothes cost, a woman who came with her own money, and fashion style. Thank god for the style.
The ‘blame Meghan’ drumbeat is interestingly silent in the entertainment part of the Coronation. Major musicians have declined to perform for the king, citing prior commitments. It’s more than that. Some don’t like the idea of crowns, tiaras, privilege and class in the year 2023.
Others understand that a black woman has been wronged, for being loved by a prince whose ancestors enslaved African kings, stole their land and called it the British Empire, but they cannot stand one black woman, just one.
