Joe Rogan? Who is he? Please don’t kill me but I didn’t know who he was until Meghan Markle. Her first Spotify podcast in August 2022 collected more views than his. Apparently, that is quite a feat because his Spotify podcast is extremely popular.

Meghan Markle and Spotify parted company and that resurrected venom against Meghan Markle, which is unfortunate because the issue is intellectual property and rights around things we put out on the internet and vehicles we use to transport that content, Spotify in this case.

First of all, let’s forget that Meghan Markle married Prince Harry against our will. That’s right. I don’t know who we had in mind for him, but that’s a moot point. She was the face of the podcast but she doesn’t own it.

It is guess work but maybe the bone of contention was ownership. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s foundation own the original content, the idea and how it was brought to fruition. Spotify acted as an airline, courier company, pizza delivery, freight train, a conveyor belt or basketball. The player approached the bucket and dunked the ball inside, but the infrastructure belongs to the NBA through NBA teams.

Archewell Foundation wants to retain all present and future rights to its content. Remember how jazz, blues and rock n rock musicians like James Brown were exploited by recording companies back in the day? They had the talent, wrote their own lyrics, bought their instruments but they didn’t have the airline to fly the music out. Many died poor, but the ‘owners’ are still making money online because of YouTube . Ask rapper LL Cool J, about the importance of owning his master tapes.

Comfort food is good for the soul, which usually bleeds in winter from icy roads, bad drivers that want to annihilate pedestrians, frozen fingers and toes that take a sabbatical.   What happened to my toes?   I thought I was wearing special socks for boots? Being a passenger is very stressful.   You must listen to the owner of the car, nod and grumble yes to everything he says because you don’t want to piss him off. Two things can happen if you disagree with the driver: he can lose concentration and you all end up in a mash-up accident or stop the car and ask you to get out.   That is the driver’s prerogative.   You must listen to me if you are a passenger in my car.   Let’s flip the script for a minute and sympathise with the driver if she has a passenger who is more intelligent than Albert Einstein. He talks non-stop.   It is all about himself, how right he is, how good he is, how stupid his boss is.
