There are so many things on our mind, all related to body and soul as in rent, mortgage, hydro and pots on the stove. That’s why it’s difficult to keep up with external forces like the English language because it changes all the time. I only understood the acronym G.O.A.T. this year 2023. I kid you not.

It turns out it means: the Greatest Of All Time. Sports podcasts love it. They are always looking for the baseball, basketball and football G.O.A.T. I was never interested in what it means because of real goats that bleat while tied to a pole. It is a cry for help but they know it’s useless. They might belong to parents of a son who wants to marry a girl on the other side of the village. His parents will give them to her parents as an introduction, just an introduction of their son’s honorable intention. Podcasts’ preoccupation with the GOAT is an attempt at self-preservation. How? One podcast will say Terence Hill is the NFL GOAT. Other podcasts will agree or come up with theirs, let’s say Popo Luke. The debate is the topic for the next four podcasts. Every podcast is goati-fied. It can also cause bad blood between the two players, if they are still alive.

Podcasts are good because most of them provide nuggets of information not in the public domain. Former players could not talk about certain things because of contracts and other signed documents. However, podcasts should avoid repeating commentary inherited from traditional media like television. They are free agents now, capable of creating their own topics. They don’t have to be goati-fied.

Comfort Food As Regret Food

Chicken curry. Comfort food is good for the soul, which usually bleeds in winter from icy roads, bad drivers that want to annihilate pedestrians, frozen fingers and toes that take a sabbatical.   What happened to my toes?   I thought I was wearing special socks for boots? Being a passenger is very stressful.   You must listen to the owner of the car, nod and grumble yes to everything he says because you don’t want to piss him off. Two things can happen if you disagree with the driver: he can lose concentration and you all end up in a mash-up accident or stop the car and ask you to get out.   That is the driver’s prerogative.   You must listen to me if you are a passenger in my car.   Let’s flip the script for a minute and sympathise with the driver if she has a passenger who is more intelligent than Albert Einstein. He talks non-stop.   It is all about himself, how right he is, how good he is, how stupid his boss is. Einstein is also a driving instructor.   “Careful.   Look at that guy.   Is he crazy or something? ” says Einstein.
