Election Volunteers Future Networking

Try and pair volunteers if possible e.g. retired and young worker/student. Some have already established a bond from knocking on doors, in pairs.

- Voting is good citizenship.

- Volunteering is good citizenship + professional development.

Before I forget, I hope volunteers in this election remember to vote. They might be so busy helping others, they might forget their own good citizenship task.

Being a volunteer in something as massive as a presidential election is professional development. Remember the roaring success of the DNC in Chicago August 19-22? It was professional development for everybody behind the scenes. Your campaign office is a miniscule DNC, but the Harris/Walz ticket cannot make it to the finishing line and cut that tape like the sprinter Noah Lyles, without volunteers. It’s not only for phones and knocking on doors, but for the whole event management, as well. Yes, this presidential election is quite an event.

Professional Development

1. Volunteers delve deep into the practical side of democracy: election-speak, how counties work, the Secretary of State, ballots, deadlines etc.

2. Volunteers establish networking of a life time.

3. Volunteers discover their own hidden talents.

4. Volunteers are introduced to the latest technology, from fellow volunteers that are tech-inclined.

5. Volunteers learn the art of ‘listening’ as in, really listening.

6. Volunteers learn about allocation of resources, whether it is distributing lawn signs or renting garden chairs.

7. Volunteers learn about time management, to the last second.

8. Volunteers learn about city by-laws and regulations pertaining to elections.

9. Volunteers are schooled about the media (good and bad).

10. Volunteers might want to include the Party in their future, form a fishermen for democracy interest group, or something along those lines.

Forget democracy.   It should be called political bullying. We are watching it in the prelude to the Canadian election on the 19 th of October, 2015.   Americans have also started their political bullying for the looming presidential election next year. Comfort Food As Regret Food

Chicken curry. Comfort food is good for the soul, which usually bleeds in winter from icy roads, bad drivers that want to annihilate pedestrians, frozen fingers and toes that take a sabbatical.   What happened to my toes?   I thought I was wearing special socks for boots? We therefore have a right to comfort food which throws doctors’ orders out of the window and has no loyalty to calories.   No calculator on the table, thanks very much.   Piece of bread 5 calories, half a banana 10 calories, sugar-free cheesecake 2,000 calories.   Ah! Ah!  We only live once. No Air Miles

I don’t have Air Miles.   I’m considering putting that on a T-Shirt because I cannot go to the drugstore (chemist) or coffee shop without the cashier asking me if I have air miles. We waited for about two minutes the other day, while this guy looked for his Air Miles card in his overweight wallet.   For what?   For a few points. I don’t have air miles because Mathematics is a foreign language.   I was never good in numbers. That is why I squashed the idea of being an investment banker very early in life.   I understand you can invest in cornfields before the soil is turned up or pork bellies even before a baby pig is born. That is how I view air miles, investing in tomorrow or the unknown.   I’m the dumb one.   Some people understand this air miles’ thing so well, I overheard one customer saying: I can even convert my points into cash.
