Choices We Make
ZULU LESSON
Choose is khetha in Zulu. Choose, as in voting in countries lucky enough to have democracy. Khe-tha. You say the first part like curl, the second like time. An election, like the one America is preparing for on November 5, is called ukhetho. That’s the noun u-khe-tho.
1. Khetha. Choose to play with your phone, and ignore your kids’ sad eyes.
2. Khetha. Choose to live in Georgia, and not New York.
3. Khetha. Choose to lease a car, and not buy one.
4. Khetha. Choose to buy an onion farm, and not a Lamborghini.
5. Khetha. Choose floor tiles for the house you are building.
6. Khetha. Choose public or private school.
7. Khetha. Choose an engineer over a ball player.
8. Khetha. Choose two bridesmaids and not 12.
9. Khetha. Choose a court wedding and not an internet one.
10. Khetha. Choose to walk to work during the summer.
Life is about choices we make. What would you choose, and reject in your next life, called reincarnation?
