They'll run for their life to the arms of Harris/Walz.  Americans are busy doing early voting for the 5 November presidential election, but they will still enjoy Halloween at the end of October. Kids will be out, door-to-door looking for candy: "Trick or Treat." Donald Trump will not be involved  in trick or treat because that is well-established. Freedom is not a campaign slogan from the Harris/Walz campaign. It is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. I was perpetually amazed when I arrived in New York for college. Americans did things that could court jail and community scorn in most countries. American classmates shrugged them off and said it was freedom to do as you please, within the confines of the law and not encroaching on another person’s freedom. When calls for an official medical report about Trump's shooting increased, he wore this bandage that looks like a poker card. There is concern because blood came out of the ear. Turkey on Thanksgiving? Not all families can afford it. Buy chicken pieces instead, wrap them in foil and shove them in the oven. Beans are cheaper so always have them. October 14 is Thanksgiving in Canada. Memories. The oven is synonymous with freshly baked scones, called tea biscuits in Canada and America. It is raining. Can you imagine opening the door and being greeted by the aroma of something rising in the oven? That was mama, may she rest in peace. Time passed, and I met Zodwa, my hairdresser. She would braid my hair while she had something going in the oven. I was not the only customer. That is when I truly appreciated the wonders of the oven. All you have to do, is brush chicken pieces with olive oil-based salad dressing, wrap them in kitchen foil and shove them in the oven for an hour, max. Eat. Sign Language and electronics. How do sign "laptop?" Just open it. That is how you sign laptop. Why should we learn sign language? Because the world is one microphone where, what we thought we whispered to a friend, was taped. We get a shock when we hear it on the internet. 1. We should learn sign language to speak with other human beings, something we forget. Deaf people are human beings. 2. We should learn sign language if we are in contact sports. NBA stars give each other signs on the floor. Baseball has standard signs. 3. We should learn sign language if we work in crowded places: schools, kindergarten, conferences, media briefings, religious places, concert halls etc. The fun part about sign language is that it is common sense. Try and guess how to sign the following: small kids, sunglasses, laptop, desk, bell, earrings, bracelet, oven, muffins, think, angry or family. Steve Bannon is in jail for the love of Trump. Therefore, polls should factor in 6 January, and not rehash polls about Trump leading Joe Biden and now Kamala Harris, out of context. I don’t believe in polls because I’m not good in math. They use figures to collect information,  determine how many people will be ‘sourced’, where they will be ‘sourced’ then collate the figures into a statement that applies to all Americans or Canadians. Example. Polls said Donald Trump was leading Joe Biden in certain states. It was baffling because America has a painful history called 6 January 2021. Friends can be as thick as thieves, but vote differently. Arguments on the merits and demerits of either the Democratic Party or Republican Party can be quite heated in some homes or spaces. It’s better to leave if it goes to that extent. But can we still be friends if we don’t see eye to eye about the 5 November election? Not for me. Being on the same page politically is a must.  I cannot hang out with people with different political views from mine because politics determine how much tax I pay; who doesn’t pay tax; women’s rights; who votes for television stars like Trump and Elon Musk ; and who is handled with cotton wool gloves by the police, while they kill other suspects on sight. I disengaged from two friends some years ago. The provincial government we worked for was downsizing. We did not like what it brought to the table, so the union called a strike.  I was on the picket line five days a week. The two friends walked passed me and went through the glass doors of the building.
