Zulu Lesson Gates

The Samantha Lee Gibson and Tyrese Gibson divorce was played out
on social media, with he said, she said darts.

A gate is very interesting because of its subjective nature. I choose to open the gate and enter. You choose to open it and go out, sometimes never to return. A prenuptial agreement is a perfect example of a gate, but, let’s get the Zulu word first.

Isango: is one gate. I-sa-ngo you say the first part like email, the second like son and the last part like lingo.

Amasango: two or more gates. A-ma-sa-ngo you say the first part like Anna, the second like money, the third like son and the last part like lingo.

In ancient times, in a land mass called KwaZulu, men lived with three or more wives in one compound. Wives had their own houses, and the man his own bachelor pad (although he was married). Something like how wealthy people live. The husband has his own wing in a mansion, so does the wife. The ancient compound had two gates (ama-sango). It had the main gate, and the gate to the cattle kraal.

In modern day Canada and U.S. a man has one wife. He usually has more money than her and it is usually the reason why she loves him. Nobody approaches a street-sweeper or building caretaker, on the internet. Most wealthy men think ahead. That’s why they insist on a pre-nuptial agreement.

DEFINITION

An antenuptial agreement, or prenuptial agreement is a legal contract between two people who plan to get married. It outlines how their assets, properties and debts will be distributed in the event of a divorce or separation. It can also address other issues like spousal support, inheritance rights and life insurance policies. Source: Contracts Counsel.

Now, I think the pre-nup, as they call it, is a good example of a gate (isango). The two people who were always on the internet, displaying their love, the Christmas tree, cars, houses and other possessions come to a dead end. Love has gone south. It’s usually the woman that opens the gate and leaves. The pre-nup enables the husband to close the gate after her, and go back to his luxury, his lifestyle. Men want the pre-nup because they go crazy when they think about possibilities, in the absence of one. The court can give the wife, half of his properties.
