Main Bedroom Not Master
Estate agents must be politically correct during SHOW HOUSE or OPEN HOUSE days, otherwise they’ll lose potential buyers.
“This is the master bedroom,” says the agent with long green nails.
The potential buyer might not be impressed by the ‘master’ part because she is her own mistress, with a money-making security company with 50 female martial arts experts, as security guards.
Just kidding. Estate agents should use neutral terms like: the main bedroom. Master is historical. Queen Elizabeth had her own rooms. The husband, Prince Philip has his. That was the norm for dukes, earls, lords and other aristocrats. From time to time, they would invite wives to the master bedroom. Women called husbands my lord and master.
Africa also had a master bedroom because they owned their own land before colonization. They did not live in high rise buildings. Houses were built on solid ground. Men had more than one wife, but were not invited to the master bedroom. Wives had their own huts, and the man went to the chosen hut for the night.
Separate rooms are no longer possible because Hollywood introduced the king bed for one bedroom, but royalty and other rich people like actors and actresses still sleep in different rooms. A case in point is One Room a brilliant Nigerian film starring Rita Dominic and Anthony Monjaro. However, separate rooms are not an option for poor families.
