Mushrooms Botched Experiment

See that water? It cooked the pumpkin.

Mushrooms are an acquired taste for me, but I’m warming up to them. People use them in different ways.

- In salads

- Grill or roast them

- Make mushroom soup

- Throw them in chicken or lamb curry to tame it

Experiment: Cook mushrooms without a tear drop of margarine or canola oil, as I normally do. I put chopped mushrooms in a pot and set the heat to very low, around 2.

Aaaah! Aaaah! Six minutes went by, no water. I decided to improvise and put a teaspoon of water. The real mushroom water showed up, and it was a lot. Jubilation galore, so I added chopped pumpkin which I normally steam for 7 minutes max. I avoid over boiling or over steaming veggies. I’m not in boarding school any more or incarcerated.

Magic! Mushroom water cooked the pumpkin. Why did you say the experiment was botched? Because of that teaspoon of water I added, to nudge the mushrooms into action.
