Raptors In Sickness and in Health

Baby calm down, calm down, to quote Rema's song. Nobody died. We just missed
the Play Offs. We'll float to the Finals next season. Pic: O.G. Anunoby, a Toronto Raptors player.

NBA Play Offs or no Play Offs, we love the Toronto Raptors. It’s like having an only child. Canada has one basketball team. It’s the Raptors. That’s why we love them in sickness and in health.

We are not in the Play Offs and that was expected although we didn’t talk about it. Something like keep it in the family, the Canadian family type of  thing. Supporters are on the outside watching the game, but it was obvious that something was off, inside the corridors of power, and that affected players. Certain individuals said team spirit be damned, and pushed personal agendas. Seasoned NBA commentators watched in shock but they zipped their mouths, including padlocks for extra security.

That’s a wild guess, and it doesn’t change players’ responsibility. They are paid to play. They did not. That’s why Raptors are not in the Play Offs. Point taken but, the road matters. It’s difficult to drive on a road riddled by pot holes and traffic lights’ computers are on the blink, every year.

Players were not the problem. That’s why the organization let the trade deadline slide by and kept the existing squad. Talk about a vote of confidence.
