Fans Have No Right
Fans have no right to tell actors, actresses and other famous people what to do with their lives. They follow and be-friend them on social media, but that does not give them the licence to dictate. Social media doesn’t change the following:
1. Fans are faceless strangers
2. Fans have no good intentions about people they follow
3. Fans make comments for selfish reasons, to get more page views
4. Fans have a right to their privacy. Nobody tells them when to get pregnant.
Two Examples
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, whose husband is Abhishek Bachchan, both work in Bollywood films. They have a daughter Aaradhya. There are photographers in Mumbai India whose sole assignment is to snap them at the airport. Aishwarya is always seen holding her daughter’s hand.
Pseudo fans hate the motherly gesture and they constantly demand that she should let Aaradhya walk by herself. It is mind boggling that they believe they have the right to tell a mother what to do. Where is exactly written in social media that they have a right to do that? They also want her pregnant. They deface her photos and insert a bulging belly.
Nigerian movie stars are regularly subjected to lies about engagements. One ‘fan’ decides to increase his followers by saying Actress A is engaged to Actor A. He gets many page views. The lie grows and more and more ‘fans’ spread it. This is torture for the two people, who find themselves answering questions about what they know nothing about.
What makes fans think they have the right? KiekieTV, a Nigerian comedian has a skit where the fan demands everything she is wearing. Are they fans or beggars?
