When I Lose My Job

Lewis Hamilton, born and raised in a racing car, and trained by his dad Anthony Hamilton, always has Plan B. That's why the winner of 7 Formula One championships, moved to Mercedes Benz Petronas. 

You will lose your job next week, during the summer or just before the Christmas. It’s an occupational hazard and it’s something you must come to terms with. We never think of being fired because we went the extra mile for the company, the divorce or mentally unstable teens, the result of ‘love’ they got from faceless demons. No job is permanent.

Milwaukee Bucks. Fired Head Coach Mike Budenholzer for the team's first round loss in the 2023 Play Offs. He helped Bucks win the 2021 NBA championship, after 50 years in the wilderness.

Toronto Raptors. Fired Head Coach Nick Nurse, for the team's failure to enter the 2023 Play Offs. He  helped it win the 2019 NBA Championship for the first time. Oops! Canada has only one basketball team. Toronto Raptors.

Toronto Raptors. Fired Head Coach Dwane Casey, after the NBA named him 2018 Coach of the Year.

This is CNN. Fired Don Lemon after 17 years with the television news maker. It’s reported that he did not expect it. But how? Even kids leave home after 17 years. This is a good example of how comfortable we are in jobs.

Fox News. Fired Tucker Carlson, a man who was synonymous with Trump, and all he stands for. Watching in the wings, I thought the Murdoch family that owns Fox was happy with the perceived association, until Dominion Voting System hit Fox where it hurts, the pocket book. Delete that. The family has so much money, $787 million is parking money. Maybe being known as a right wing network, is now bad for business.

PLAN B

There are always signs that our days in a job are numbered. We just choose to ignore them. We have no Plan B. We should take lessons from Lewis Hamilton, the Formula One race car driver with 7 championships inside his helmet.

He saw things in the F1 industry, felt things, took a walk to clear his head, then struck a deal with Mercedes Benz Petronas. Now he can sleep soundly. Be prepared. You will be fired this summer.

Comfort Food As Regret Food

Chicken curry. Comfort food is good for the soul, which usually bleeds in winter from icy roads, bad drivers that want to annihilate pedestrians, frozen fingers and toes that take a sabbatical.   What happened to my toes?   I thought I was wearing special socks for boots? We therefore have a right to comfort food which throws doctors’ orders out of the window and has no loyalty to calories.   No calculator on the table, thanks very much.   Piece of bread 5 calories, half a banana 10 calories, sugar-free cheesecake 2,000 calories.   Ah! Ah!  We only live once. Being a passenger is very stressful.   You must listen to the owner of the car, nod and grumble yes to everything he says because you don’t want to piss him off. Two things can happen if you disagree with the driver: he can lose concentration and you all end up in a mash-up accident or stop the car and ask you to get out.   That is the driver’s prerogative.   You must listen to me if you are a passenger in my car.   Let’s flip the script for a minute and sympathise with the driver if she has a passenger who is more intelligent than Albert Einstein. He talks non-stop.   It is all about himself, how right he is, how good he is, how stupid his boss is. Einstein is also a driving instructor.   “Careful.   Look at that guy.   Is he crazy or something? ” says Einstein.
