Monday and 4 Day Working Week

Blue Monday. Who ever came up with the idea and why single out Monday? We don’t have red Tuesday, orange Wednesday, pink Thursday, green Friday, white Saturday or black Sunday. Do we?

Having said that, Monday would be the first day to be eliminated should we decide on a 4-day working week. The Netherlands already works 29 hours a week, Norway and Denmark 33 hours. Switzerland has also reduced hours workers spend on the job. Friday is a half day for government workers in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Four day week? Let’s consider shaving off Monday. Why?

1. Traffic jam. The boss is late, the person who opens the office or workshop is late, everybody is late. Trains and buses are late, everything, because we are coming from where we don’t normally come from. We went to visit parents. We went camping, to the cottage, revivals etc.

2. Customers. Shops will tell you Monday has no traffic, not even the lifetime achievement ‘just browsing’ customers. In fact, some shops have skeleton sales staff because Monday is their day off.

3. Store supplies. Grocery shelves are emptier on Mondays.

We’ll chop off Monday when we embrace the 4 day working week, because it has already chopped itself off.
