Father’s Day movies. Whatever plans you have for your dad on Sunday, you can wind down the day with a movie. Try something from Hong Kong cinema.

Movie scenes. They are so predictable they take the fun of watching movies. The camera is the storyteller, more than the dialogue. That is why God of Gamblers, - Do San the Chinese title - is an evergreen movie that should be studied by directors and producers.

Especially producers, because they control the money to make movies. Sometimes directors are forced to shoot the same monotonous indoor scenes because they are strapped for cash. Maybe the producer said you make this movie with this two million dollars. Period.

God of Gamblers is directed by Jing Wong, one of Hong Kong directors with mind-blowing camera work. Hong Kong cinema and Bollywood have many things in common including telling their stories on their own terms and having producers that understand that you must spend money to make money.

Comfort Food As Regret Food

Chicken curry. Comfort food is good for the soul, which usually bleeds in winter from icy roads, bad drivers that want to annihilate pedestrians, frozen fingers and toes that take a sabbatical.   What happened to my toes?   I thought I was wearing special socks for boots? Being a passenger is very stressful.   You must listen to the owner of the car, nod and grumble yes to everything he says because you don’t want to piss him off. Two things can happen if you disagree with the driver: he can lose concentration and you all end up in a mash-up accident or stop the car and ask you to get out.   That is the driver’s prerogative.   You must listen to me if you are a passenger in my car.   Let’s flip the script for a minute and sympathise with the driver if she has a passenger who is more intelligent than Albert Einstein. He talks non-stop.   It is all about himself, how right he is, how good he is, how stupid his boss is.
