New bottles but product still the same. Olive oil. He has nobody to blame if he forgets that table owners recommended his staff to destroy him last year. New coaching staff might be given instructions to continue the carnage this season. He forgets that at his peril, and won't have our sympathy.

Who knows and what does he know? The prey knows. It might be deer, the subject of the hunt in medieval England, when dogs covered all possible escape routes and closed in for the kill. Today, it’s the office manager or ‘difficult’ worker who is about to lose his job. Difficult? Yes, diligent workers who question why company policy says one thing, and ‘tradition’ does it the opposite way.

He knows.

That is bad news for conspirators and saboteurs. The plan to oust somebody from his position unfairly and illegally must be a water tight secret. It is based on only a needs-to-know basis. Certain individuals within an organization are part of the approval chain but there are exceptions. They don’t need to know about the hunt. Before COVID-19, the workplace had Human Resources (HR) managers and corporate lawyers. HR does the administrative stuff: look at applications, arrange interview dates, inform successful job-seekers and also write the: you are fired letter. Corporate lawyers are the big guns that look at possible consequences. Will you take it like a man and start your own business somewhere, or will you start a podcast and expose the company’s dirt?

He knows.

It happens everywhere. The church. Organized sports. It’s more vicious in sports. Young men love the game but they also want to: take care of my family, as they always respond in interviews. Sports is also a money laundering machine for men who control the product. Players are the product. Therefore, the people dining at the table will do anything to protect themselves from an outsider that tries to lift the table and scatter food and drink on the floor. They forget their differences and infiltrate the outsider’s enterprise. Indeed, he gives instructions and they blatantly ignore them. They don’t work for him. They work for the table. Everything works well, if they think he doesn’t know.

But he knew all along. The more brutal table owners became, the more he was sure that what he knows is truly, their agenda. He played along and gave them a long rope to hang themselves. They did, because the kids also knew and they are as mad as hell. The head of the table has resigned, rather than answer questions about the boomerang.
