Sci-Fi Movies and Covid-19 Fashion

He wore it on Canada Day, said he bought it for $3 from the dollar store.

Sci-Fi movies are adaptations of books or the fertile imagination of scriptwriters, but costumes are creative art from Costume Design. We don’t know much about this movie department and quite frankly, we don’t care. But, we remember the costumes.

They are no longer science-fiction fashion, thanks to COVID-19. Now we wear double masks + see through plastic masks. Nurses, doctors and other health care workers have triple protection, which includes body suits and heavy duty gloves.

Fashion houses in Tokyo, Munich, Rome, Atlanta, Paris or New York will adapt them for street wear. Protection before fashion is already underway because designers make face masks that match outfits. Fashion conscious men and women have day and night masks.

The mask as a fashion accessory is not new, but it didn’t cover the nose. Vintage movies have mask ball scenes, that mirrored the decadence of the time. Earls, lords and duchesses owned castles where they hosted masked balls for fun. The year 2020 was not a fun year because COVID-19 hit.

It won’t be long before fashion designers make body suits for street wear because we have let down the guard. We don’t wear masks anymore. We think COVID-19 is over the horizon. Millions do not have symptoms so the virus is having a free ride. If it reappears with dynamite intensity, we might be heading for street fashion that covers the whole body.
