Podcast Dad is the Co-host

Colin Hanks followed his famous dad Tom Hanks into the film business.

Ever thought of having a podcast with your dad? It won’t have millions of fans and haters like Meghan Markle’s podcast on Spotify, but it will have an audience.

You will definitely have young and old fans. Young fans will root for the son or daughter. Older fans will support the father, whose intention is to prove that ‘trending’ is nothing but old school in new digital rags.

Movies tend to handle conflict between kids and parents but they do have something in common. That is why NBA stars want their sons in the game. Tiger Woods the golfer is grooming his son. Bollywood families need no introduction.

The U.S. has a long history of sons taking over their fathers’ seats in Congress. In North Korea, Kim Jong-Un is the leader after taking over from his father Kim Jong-il. Therefore, there is common ground for a podcast, but it won’t be easy.

Viewers don’t want history and fathers might try to do that, to put everything in perspective. It won’t work. We, the audience don’t have time. We are a bullet points crowd. We prefer instant soup to peeling vegetables. We are a microwave audience. We are also body conscious so it will help if podcast dads have gym instructor bodies. That’s right.

Format first. Is the podcast a comedy about a common interest or something totally different, like supporting different soccer, baseball or NBA teams? Clothes? That might work. Can you imagine the dad wearing bell bottoms and the son distressed (torn) jeans?

The name? What will you call the podcast? Same blood. I'll definitely run with this name.
