Anger at Bosses Customer Suffer

Bus drivers, waiters, receptionists, cashiers, city clerks, hospital front desk, or taxi drivers sometimes have a bad day. Maybe they are angry at the boss. I don’t know that. I take it personally when they shift the aggression to me.

There’s nothing disconcerting like walking into an establishment with the intention of spending money - even if it’s $10 - and being met by a face with the  what are doing here?’ look.

Most companies have a department called Human Resources (HR) which looks after workers, advise them on sick leave, time keeping, payroll and other issues. I assume that mental well-being is one of them. Workers and the boss fight all the time. It’s a given.

But customers should not bear the brunt for that friction. HR should warn workers about customers’ radar capability. They know when they are not wanted, when they are given attitude through the eyes and body language.

HR should advise both the boss and workers that, taking their fight to cashiers affects the bottom  line. Customers do not have million dollar advertising budgets, as big as coffee companies'. They have something lethal. Word of mouth.
