Biden Call Me JRB
Assumptions first. We shall assume Joseph Robinette Biden (JRB), will be the Democratic Party’s nominee for the 2020 U.S. presidential election. Put simply, they want him to run for president, and win.
We shall also assume, that COVID-19 will be a thing of the past in the fall, making campaigning safe for JRB and President Trump to shake hands, kiss babies and admonish journalists they presume to be too exuberant.
There’s talk of virtual voting, but that dampens the fun, and might harm state economies because there’s a lot of money riding on presidential elections: printing posters/placards/stickers, car rentals, hotel bookings, hair salons/barbershops, booking community halls, convention centers, catering etc.
Let’s say the virus - which claimed 52,509 lives in the U.S. (25 April 2020 figures) - is contained, will that result in a more focused presidential campaign, with JRB and Donald Trump addressing voters’ bread and butter issues?
No, because the virus chomped on those very issues, so campaign managers for both candidates must get used to the migraine caused by how to fend off questions about who did what, who didn’t do what during the COVID-19 pandemic.
JRB’s campaign manager will be the one with the most migraines, because JRB will be rowing in murky waters, against a foe that is currently the White House tenant and comfortable in murky waters, since more often than not, he is responsible for polluting them in the first place.
Donald Trump, the 45th U.S. President did not create the virus obviously, but he is handling it his own way, using a unique with the powers vested in me approach. History will be the judge.
Trump’s campaign manager will have headaches but not many because he has a score card to tweet. The President did this and that to help Americans during COVID-19. Whether his decisions and omissions were good for the country or not, will be decided by the vote on 3 November.
JRB’s campaign manager does not have a score card and he cannot advise his candidate to say no, I didn’t do anything because I was not the decision maker.
The correct response is: ‘I didn’t, because I am not the president but, he wouldn’t dare because of dirty politics. The opposition will chop off the first half of the sentence and use ‘….I am not the president’ to project JRB as weak and indecisive, and not confident that he can be in the Oval Office.
QUESTIONS FOR JRB
Biden’s campaign manager must understand one thing. JRB cannot win Twitter wars because Donald Trump is the commander-in-chief for that part of social media. It will be a waste of resources to respond to every tweet.
The 2020 race for the white house will be a HEALTH vs THE ECONOMY campaign and the sooner JRB’s campaign machinery understands that, the better.
But it means understanding COVID-19 first, so that the campaign manager can prepare a list of questions JRB might encounter. We assume that his camp has a team of experts that will give him the desired answers. There are right answers and desired answers. Right, is bad for elections. Desired is good. It’s not cynicism, just reality.

No entertainment or community meetings.
Besides, it is called a presidential race because of the running around, hopping on planes to travel to the next city to shake hands with farmers, pastors, gun lovers, gun haters and kiss babies, which will be problem if the little darlings are wearing masks like their parents.
