The Anti-Vax Vote Saved Trudeau
Anti vaccine mandate protest helped Trudeau stay in minority power.
It will be wrong to assume that Canadians with a particular belief about life belong to a certain party but, we can safely say anti vax protesters during the September federal election, did not vote for Justin Trudeau, the marquee of the Liberal Party.
Trudeau was the government when the election took place. He was in a minority government so decisions about the pandemic had the buy-in of opposition parties for example, giving us bread money during lockdown.
They also agreed to common sense vaccine mandates i.e. you're going to eat or drink at a public place, so you should be vaccinated or stay at home and enjoy your un-vaccinated self. Anti-vaxers all have driver's licences, a common sense way to keep everyone safe on the road.
Anti-vax deliberately ignored the fact that Trudeau was in a minority government and whatever he did, had to be rubber stamped by opposition parties. All they knew was that Trudeau was the bad guy so they showcased their anger at various election sites.
It was not pretty. It was un-Canadian because for whatever reason, most Canadians believe they are morally superior to Americans. What anti-vaxers did not bargain for was that their protests dampened the anger against Trudeau for calling a me-me-me election to get a majority.
Liberals rank and file who had decided not to vote at all went to polling stations and voted for Trudeau, for vaccine mandates, and for decorum during elections. We don't know who anti-vaxers voted for but it was definitely not for Trudeau.
