Toronto Raptors Minimum Payment Due

Chris Boucher, Toronto Raptors.

Minimum payment due. That is what Toronto Raptors need to maintain scoring consistency. Apologies for belaboring the point, but I have to because I always cringe when other teams have the ball. It means deposits will be approved. Whoosh! Whoosh! Now that is called banking.

Minimum payment. Maybe this is a bad choice of words because professional basketball players have obese bank balances and pay off their plastic cards every month, not like the rest of us.

Minimum payment, that is what we squeeze through the needle, if we pay at all. Credit card companies salivate at the thought of all that interest on unpaid balances. Please don’t depress me.

Back to minimum payment. We the North or should I say, We the Fans would like the six designated shooters to deposit in the basket 15 points each, and we are talking about the 1-2-3-’s, (3 pointers in basketball lingo).

15 X 6 = 90.

It’s a free country, so anybody can score if the opportunity arises, but it will be on top of the minimum payment. The compulsory 15 points for designated shooters will give Raptors a healthy bank (baskets) balance. However, the minimum payment is not restrictive. The Pascal Siakams, Fred VanVleets, Kyle Lowrys, Norman Powells, Serge Ibakas or O.G. Anunobys of this world are free to max the minimum payment. 30 points? You better believe it.

Now let’s get back to the real world of basketball. The minimum payment has a problem: construction, as during the summer when municipal workers in Canada and the U.S. dig every where, replacing pipes and things. Opposing teams might steal the ball from a Raptors’ practitioner or block it. They might be selfish and make sure that Raptors don’t smell it at all.

How about fouls? They also delay scoring. There’s the changing of the guard, take out Player 2 and insert Player 50. Crafty coaches also call time out to give players some rest or just confuse the opposition. Then there’s overtime. All these situations affect the time Raptors need to deliver the compulsory minimum payment.

Despite all that, it must, it will, it shall happen. It will also boost the morale of the bench because they will know that they should add some pizza toppings to what is already on the crust: 90 solid points.
