Toronto Raptors Consistency

Fan loyalty. Toronto Raptors need it like yesterday especially in these trying times of the ever-growing out patients’ ward. There’s nothing we can do about that because it comes with the turf, an occupational hazard if you may.

It’s like mother lion saying hey, I must teach my kids how to kill, you take yours grocery shopping, don’t you? Sadly, some guys are in the sick bay, but baskets are still there, waiting for deposits, approved deposits.

Going back to fan loyalty, I don’t know why we are called fans because we are a fickle lot, very fickle indeed. Poor Raptors, to think that they have to satisfy a whole country, with mountains of snow, and fans become cold if they constantly envy other teams.

How do they score consistently, like those Milwaukee Bucks? Miami Heat is also igniting the grill. Whoosh! Whoosh! With approved deposits! What is the formula? Fans are not the only ones wondering.

Nick Nurse and the coaching staff are worried obviously. It is easier said than done because it’s a team, although players are individuals with their private mental turbulence, that can affect performance.

What makes a player unpredictable like the weather, sunny skies in the morning, lunchtime a rogue storm that flies under The Weather Network’s radar? Surely, it’s in the mind.

O.G. Anunoby for example. It’s hard to deal with his slump. That is why it was a joy to see him being his old self when Toronto Raptors played Charlotte Hornets, January 8.

Too much emphasis is being placed on the recovery of injured players like Pascal Siakam but it is no guarantee that they’ll pick up where they left off. Remember Kyle Lowry? It took some time to get his groove back.

The bench has been spectacular, in keeping the home fires burning during the injury flu, largely because of Masai Ujiri’s scouting skills. He has a knack for talent.

How do Raptors maintain banking consistency, especially for guys on rotation? That is the worry for most fans because a lot is at stake, and it is not retaining the NBA championship, although that would be great.

It is about proving that it was not all about Kawhi Leonard. He was a crucial piece in the Eastern Conference chess game, but he joined the action midway.

Raptors fans still adore him not only for approved banking (baskets), but for his low key stance. Not an ounce of ego, beating chests and opening mouths wide to say, see me, see me!

Nobody understands what is at stake better than Kyle Lowry. The team was good before Kawhi Leonard got here and Raptors can prove that by applying some grout on shooting cracks.
