Parents Vs. Social Media

Social media is a big mystery to the sun and the moon.  These incredible circles don’t understand why online friends and followers don’t follow the forces of nature i.e. the sun dances during the day with all kinds of things clapping.  The moon takes the stage at night, casting a blue blanket over sleeping humanity.

Ideally, there should be a place for parents and one for social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the massive YouTube.  The two spaces meet if you follow your parents or your kids are listed as friends on Facebook. The sun and moon analogy is about knowledge.  There is knowledge that is not in the public domain and it can only be tapped by talking to parents or grandparents.  It is not, because social media has merged the sun and the moon. 
Parents are mostly found at home, but kids are not talking to them because they believe their electronic punching bags provide all the answers.  They want to know the height of the pyramids of Giza, they punch the electronic bag.  They are doing a Biology assignment, they punch the bag.

Perhaps, we should take a break and ask parents about the candle stand and matches in the pantry.  Electricity.  Power disappears for one reason or the other.  Technology is the principal dancer right now, but parents and grandparents are back-up knowledge, when she falls.

Comfort Food As Regret Food

Chicken curry. Comfort food is good for the soul, which usually bleeds in winter from icy roads, bad drivers that want to annihilate pedestrians, frozen fingers and toes that take a sabbatical.   What happened to my toes?   I thought I was wearing special socks for boots? Internet Manners

The internet and mama have something in common: manners.   They believe that always say Hi! To people you meet. Home is where the heart is, but it is rough being at home these digital days.   People are so tied up in chat rooms, Instagram, Twitter, FB, YouTube or Google mania, they don’t have a minute to say hi or good night to people they share a toilet or kitchen with. Thank god for internet players.   They say hi to me when I re-open a document after a thirty minutes’ break.   It’s all automated, but it is nice when the computer calls me by my name and encourages me to continue, where I left off. The internet understands that greetings are the definitive ice breaker, before saying mum, I’m hungry or dad, can I have the car keys?
