2020 Write Off Year
Drunk driving and working your phone while driving lead to loss of life and untold emotional and financial hardship for those left behind.
Who cares? We do it because we think it’s ‘cool’. People lose their lives and cars become a complete write off, ‘totaled’, I think that is what kids call it.
Writing off a whole year is rare. 2020 will go down in history as the year that was written off because of a virus called COVID-19 and come December, we will see T-shirts with the message 2020 COMPLETE WRITE OFF. It is possible. One thing that does not cease to amaze me is the dollar sign to everything we do.
For example, Toronto Raptors, the Canadian basketball team flipped the script and won the 2019 NBA Championship. Those strange Canadians, who seldom show emotion for anything, are still celebrating as you read this. What was strange to me though were the T-Shirts.
Game 6, between Toronto Raptors vs. Golden State Warriors went down on June 13, 2019. Bham! Kawhi Leonard put it away and history was made. Toronto Raptors won the 2019 NBA Championship.
Before you knew it, Raptors were wearing T-shirts that said they were basketball champions. How did they know they will win and who ordered these T-shirts and when were they manufactured and delivered in San Francisco before June 13?
What didn’t make the news is that Golden State Warriors also had their T-shirts on ice, just in case they win again. What happened to them?
My point is: orders for T-shirts are sent to China, the world’s manufacturing giant, before the outcome of an event. That is why I figure that orders for T-shirts declaring 2020 as a COMPLETE WRITE OFF are being processed in Beijing as we speak.
But who is printing these T-shirts? We will never know, the same way we don’t know who decided that the face of Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara’, a name associated with the Cuban and South American revolution should be on American T-shirts.
COVID-19 the pandemic. Who cares what it is all about? Money will be made on 2020 T-shirts.
